Direct Access Procedures
A direct (or open) access procedure, is where your GP or other referring Specialist wants you to have a procedure without seeing Dr Ryan in consultation prior.
Your Dr will request the procedure, and follow up with you afterwards to discuss your results and ongoing management.
You will see Dr Ryan directly before the procedure and she will explain the procedure, what diseases will be looked for based on your symptoms, any samples/biopsies that will be taken and the risks of the procedure.
You will have a chance to ask any questions about your procedure before you proceed.
Dr Ryan will also see you immediately after your procedure to discuss what was found.
You will then follow up with your GP (or referring specialist) for the biopsy results, and ongoing management of your symptoms/disease.
